Eon Space Labs has achieved a major breakthrough as its ultra lightweight space telescope MIRA has cleared thermo vacuum testing and is now qualified for space under NASA National Aeronautics and Space Administration standards. The Hyderabad based startup confirmed that the telescope will fly on a December 2025 satellite mission along with TakeMe2Space. The payload weighs 502 grams and has demonstrated its readiness for low Earth orbit under extreme heat and vacuum conditions.
Co founder Sanjay Kumar described the achievement as a truly defining moment. He said that space grade certification shows that high precision imaging systems can now be built end to end in India.
This development comes after the startup raised one point two million dollars in a pre series A round led by MGF Kavachh with HHV Advanced Technologies joining as a strategic partner. The funding supports the creation of electro optical and infrared payloads including MIRA and will help expand the company’s engineering team.
The thermo vacuum tests took place at an NABL accredited facility in Ahmedabad. The tests recreated real orbital conditions. These included vacuum levels below ten to the power of minus five torr and temperatures between minus twenty degrees Celsius and plus sixty degrees Celsius. The telescope continued to perform imaging and telemetry tasks through its onboard computer throughout the testing.
Co founder Punit Badeka said that MIRA delivers very high quality imagery at a fraction of the standard size and weight. Manoj Kumar Gaddam added that the company’s optical and AI enabled stack is designed for space resilience.
