Large scale crackdown in the national capital has led to hundreds of suspected cybercrime offenders being caught or restrained as part of a focused operation carried out over two days. The operation, known as CyHawk, targeted multiple modules involved in online fraud.
According to Joint Commissioner of Police Rajneesh Gupta, a total of 877 people have been arrested or bound down during the 48 hour action that continued till 9 am on Friday. He said at a press conference that another 509 individuals have been served notices related to different cybercrime activities.
The police reported that several types of fraud have been uncovered during the operation. These include job scams, investment scams and work from home frauds. Officials added that many call centres involved in cheating people were also raided as part of the coordinated effort.
CyHawk marks one of the largest recent operations by the Delhi Police in tackling online crime, which has been growing rapidly across the city. The action highlights rising concerns about digital fraud and the need for stronger enforcement.
