Strengthening its presence in high-value manufacturing, electronics manufacturer Zetwerk has set up a new defence electronics manufacturing facility in Devanahalli, Bengaluru, with an investment of ₹100 crore.
The new unit will employ 1200 people and is spread across 100,000 sq ft. It is equipped with state-of-the-art SMT and FATP lines designed to serve the defence and automotive sectors.
The facility was inaugurated by Union Minister for Railways, Electronics, and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with Karnataka Industries Minister MB Patil.
Zetwerk had earlier acquired Pinaka Aerospace in 2022 as part of its expansion into aerospace and defence manufacturing. Commenting on the new facility, Rahul Sharma, Co-founder and Managing Director (Precision), Zetwerk, said, “With this facility, we are creating a dedicated manufacturing space that complies with aerospace and defence standards. The idea is to build a focused facility with the right certifications and processes required for the sector.”
Currently, Zetwerk serves Indian and global original equipment manufacturers, mainly from the private sector. Its client base also includes defence public sector undertakings such as HAL and BHEL. In certain cases, the company works directly with the tri-services through direct collaborations.
With the commissioning of the Bengaluru facility, Zetwerk expects production in the electric vehicle segment to nearly double over the next 1 to 2 quarters. This growth will be supported by confirmed orders already secured by the company.
“We already have tie-ups with more than 3 players, and a significant portion of the orders are in hand. While some programmes will ramp up over the next couple of quarters, others may take slightly longer depending on where they are in their product cycle. Our expectation is that over the next 18 to 24, or even 36 months, this facility itself may reach capacity, creating the need for further expansion,” Sharma said.
The new facility marks a key step in Zetwerk’s strategy to scale advanced manufacturing capabilities while meeting stringent aerospace and defence requirements.
