Zepto tests same day slotted delivery option for users in select cities

Quick commerce platform Zepto has launched a new slotted delivery feature on a pilot basis, giving customers the option to schedule their orders for a specific time window instead of relying only on instant delivery. The feature is currently available in select areas in Delhi and Bengaluru.

This makes Zepto one of the few platforms in the quick commerce space offering both instant and slotted delivery choices. At present, only BigBasket and Zepto provide such flexibility, although their delivery models differ. BigBasket allows customers to book one hour slots up to six days in advance, helping users plan their purchases well ahead.

Zepto’s slotted delivery, however, is restricted to the same day. Users placing an order in the morning can choose a preferred delivery time later in the afternoon or evening. The platform also allows users to cancel their slotted orders up to half an hour before the chosen time window.

The introduction of this feature comes as quick commerce platforms continue to experiment with new offerings to improve convenience and boost customer retention. Recently, another platform introduced a feature that allows shoppers to add more items to their cart even after placing an order, as long as the order is still being packed. This addition does not carry any extra delivery charge and removes the need to place a second order.

Platforms in the sector are rapidly expanding their services. Zepto has begun pilot testing two new offerings under different verticals. Super Mall focuses on high value and premium products, while Zepto Diagnostics provides in app diagnostic services as part of its healthcare category. Another major platform has also introduced Maxxsaver to encourage larger cart sizes and rolled out a Food on Train service across 122 railway stations in India.

These developments highlight the increasing competition and innovation within the quick commerce market as platforms aim to offer faster, more flexible and more convenient shopping experiences.
