YouTube Music is celebrating its 10th anniversary with the launch of a new feature called “taste match” playlists. These shared playlists refresh daily with new songs based on the listening habits of everyone who has joined them. The feature works similarly to Spotify’s Blend, offering a mix that reflects the combined music preferences of a group. This gives users a fun new way to discover what their friends and family are enjoying.
“YouTube Music is launching shared playlists that evolve based on the listening habits of the people who join them,” the platform explained in its announcement on Thursday.
Alongside playlists, YouTube Music is introducing more interactive features. Users will soon be able to leave comments directly on albums and playlists, creating a more engaging experience. The platform has also partnered with Bandsintown, which will bring upcoming concert information more prominently into artist videos, Shorts, and channels.
In addition, YouTube Music is rolling out notifications to help fans stay updated about new releases, merchandise, and event dates. These updates aim to make sure music lovers feel more connected to their favourite artists and the wider music community.
