At IIT Kanpur’s Samanvay industry-academia programme, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath unveiled India’s first AI co-pilot and urged stronger collaboration between academia and industry to position the country as a global leader in technology and sustainability.
Emphasising the importance of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and sustainability as national priorities, the Chief Minister called on IIT Kanpur to lead the DeepTech India 2025 initiative, with land already allocated for the project. He also highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s progress in cybersecurity, including cyber police stations in all 75 districts and the establishment of a State Cyber and Forensic Institute.
Reflecting on India’s economic journey, he noted that the country accounted for 25 per cent of global GDP in the 17th century but only 2 per cent at the time of independence. He expressed confidence that with current momentum, India, now the fourth-largest economy, could become the third-largest within the next two years.
The Chief Minister credited improved law and order, strong investment flows, and modern infrastructure for Uttar Pradesh’s rise from a “BIMARU” state to India’s second-largest economy. He cited Bundelkhand’s significant rise in farm incomes, universal access to household tap water, and the plantation of 240 crore saplings, verified by the Forest Research Institute, as examples of the state’s transformation.
He encouraged industries to reinvest profits into innovation rather than seeking only short-term gains and praised IIT Kanpur for its contributions during the pandemic as well as its work in the Defence Corridor and Med-Tech Centre.
The day also witnessed the launch of DeepTech Bharat 2025, the country’s first national deep-tech conference, which brought together organisations including DRDO, ISRO, MeitY, and more than 200 venture capital firms. The event introduced the DeepTech Policy 2035 and a national accelerator programme, positioning Uttar Pradesh to become India’s first deep-tech-ready state.
