Xiaomi expands self-install smart lock to Europe with drill-free setup

Home security is getting simpler with Xiaomi’s latest smart lock entering more global markets. The Xiaomi Self-Install Smart Lock is now rolling out across Europe, offering easy installation and modern smart access features without the need for drilling or professional help.

The device was earlier introduced in select markets such as Japan and the UAE. It is now making its way into European countries. As the name suggests, the Self-Install Smart Lock is designed for DIY setup. Unlike many traditional smart locks that require replacing door hardware, this model fits directly over an existing key or knob system. There are no permanent changes required to the door.

Xiaomi has focused on convenience and flexibility. The lock supports multiple unlocking methods, including fingerprint scanning for quick access. Users can also set permanent or temporary passwords. In addition, it offers app-based control through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connectivity. Voice command support via smart assistants is also available. For added security and backup, the device still allows the use of a physical key.

The lock supports the Matter smart home standard. This ensures compatibility with a wide range of smart home ecosystems instead of limiting users to a single brand. It is a practical option for households building multi-device smart home setups.

In Europe, the smart lock is already listed on retail platforms such as Galaxus in countries including France and Germany. The pricing ranges between 145–153 Euros. A secondary kit that includes an external keypad is also available, priced between 179–189 Euros.

With a focus on easy installation and broad ecosystem compatibility, Xiaomi is positioning this product as a convenient upgrade for modern homes.
