Xiaomi 17 series tipped to debut in India at higher price points

Early indications suggest Xiaomi may be preparing Indian buyers for a more premium pricing strategy with its upcoming flagship smartphones. The Xiaomi 17 series, expected to include the standard Xiaomi 17 and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, could see a notable price jump compared to earlier models, based on recent leaks and tipster claims.

While Xiaomi has not officially confirmed India-specific details, tipster said in a post on X that the Xiaomi 17 may be priced at around Rs. 80,000. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is expected to launch at approximately Rs. 1,25,000. These prices are significantly higher than the previous generation, which debuted at Rs. 64,999 and Rs. 1,09,999, respectively.

If these figures are accurate, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra could compete directly with premium offerings such as Samsung’s Galaxy S Ultra lineup and Apple’s iPhone Pro models in India. At launch, the 256GB variants of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and the iPhone 17 Pro were priced at Rs. 1,29,999 and Rs. 1,34,900. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 starts at Rs. 82,900 for the 256GB variant, and the standard Samsung Galaxy S25 begins at Rs. 80,999 for the 12GB + 256GB option.

Previous reports indicate that the Xiaomi 17 may be offered globally with 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. Colour options are said to include Black, Blue, and Green. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is expected in Black, White, and Green, with configurations of 12GB + 512GB, 16GB + 512GB, and 16GB + 1TB.

Both the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra are reported to run Android 16-based HyperOS 3 and use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. They are expected to feature Leica-tuned triple rear cameras and a 50-megapixel front camera.

The Ultra variant is tipped to sport a 6.9-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED display and a 6,800mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging. The standard Xiaomi 17 may feature a 6.3-inch 1.5K OLED 120Hz display and a 7,000mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.
