Workday is expanding its presence in India with plans to set up a global capability centre (GCC) in Chennai, supported by one of its largest enterprise office commitments in the city.
The company has signed a major office lease with a flexible workspace provider to establish the new centre, signalling a long-term investment in India’s growing talent and innovation ecosystem.
The Chennai GCC will act as a key hub for product development and technology operations, supporting Workday’s global business while advancing AI-led capabilities.
This move is part of Workday’s broader strategy to deepen its footprint in India, which remains a critical market for enterprise technology growth and innovation.
The centre is expected to play an important role in building and scaling AI-driven solutions across areas such as human capital management, finance, and cloud platforms.
Workday has been steadily growing its operations in India, with teams across Pune, Mumbai, and Chennai contributing to engineering, services, and customer experience functions globally.
The new facility further strengthens Chennai’s position as a leading destination for GCCs, driven by strong infrastructure, a skilled workforce, and rising demand from multinational companies.
It also reflects a wider trend where global enterprises are making large office investments in India to support GCC expansion, moving beyond cost efficiency to innovation-led growth.
Through this initiative, Workday aims to scale its India operations, enhance product innovation, and deliver stronger value to global clients through a dedicated technology hub.
