Wolters Kluwer CEO Nancy McKinstry Announces Retirement; Stacey Caywood Nominated as Successor

Wolters Kluwer has announced that Nancy McKinstry, the company’s long-standing CEO and Chair of the Executive Board, will retire in February 2026. After her successful tenure, the Supervisory Board will nominate Stacey Caywood, the current CEO of Wolters Kluwer Health, as a member of the Executive Board at the Annual General Meeting on May 15, 2025. The Board intends to appoint Caywood as CEO in February 2026.

Ann Ziegler, Chair of the Supervisory Board, praised McKinstry’s leadership, saying, “On behalf of the entire Supervisory Board, I would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Nancy McKinstry on her well-deserved retirement next year. Nancy’s visionary leadership and unwavering dedication have been instrumental in driving Wolters Kluwer’s success, which has been recognized in many ways but perhaps most notably by a more than tenfold increase in the company’s market capitalization during her time as CEO. We are immensely grateful for the strong foundation she has built at Wolters Kluwer and for her commitment to ensuring an orderly and seamless transition.”

Ziegler also expressed excitement about Caywood’s nomination, adding, “We are delighted to nominate Stacey Caywood as Wolters Kluwer CEO, effective February 2026. Stacey’s successful track record leading two of our largest divisions, her deep understanding of our business, and her active role in developing the group’s 2025-2027 strategic plan make her the ideal candidate to lead the company into the future.”

McKinstry, reflecting on her tenure, said, “It has been an honor and privilege to lead Wolters Kluwer through decades of transformation as the market has evolved, and I am committed to ensuring the company’s continued strength and relevance. I am deeply grateful to the Board and my past and present colleagues for their support throughout my tenure. We have a strong foundation in place and, with Stacey, an extraordinarily talented and experienced successor. Stacey’s track record as a leader, her customer-focused approach, and her deep knowledge of our company gives me full confidence that Wolters Kluwer will be in excellent hands under her leadership.”

Caywood, who has been leading Wolters Kluwer Health since 2020, has played a key role in advancing the company’s healthcare solutions. She also led a successful strategic transformation at Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory, driving growth in Europe and the U.S. With extensive experience in business transformation, digital revenue growth, and innovation, Caywood is well-equipped to lead Wolters Kluwer into the future.

At the Annual General Meeting on May 15, 2025, Caywood’s appointment will be formalized, and the Executive Board will consist of Nancy McKinstry, Kevin Entricken (CFO), and Stacey Caywood.
