IT services provider Wipro said on Friday that it has entered into a 3 year partnership with Microsoft to jointly develop industry focused AI solutions and accelerate AI adoption for enterprise clients. The collaboration brings together Wipro consulting and engineering strengths with Microsoft technologies.
As part of the agreement, the companies will use platforms such as Azure, Microsoft 365 Copilot, GitHub Copilot, and Azure AI Foundry to build scalable AI driven solutions, Wipro said in a statement.
The joint solutions will focus on key sectors including financial services, retail, manufacturing, healthcare and life sciences, and airports. The partnership will also apply 3 of Wipro industry platforms NetOxygen, Wealth AI, and Falcon Supply Chain to deliver sector specific improvements and outcomes.
Alongside client offerings, Wipro said it will expand the use of AI across its own operations. The company plans to increase AI adoption using its Wipro Intelligence suite, including across its Client Zero programmes, to improve efficiency and delivery models.
“AI has emerged as the driving force behind every opportunity we win, and this partnership will augment the way we work and deliver value to our customers,” said Nagendra Bandaru, President Technology Services at Wipro.
The announcement follows a broader push by Microsoft to expand its AI footprint in India. A day earlier, Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella announced partnerships with Wipro, Cognizant, Infosys, and Tata Consultancy Services to deploy over 50000 licences of Copilot, Microsoft AI assistant.
This initiative is part of Microsoft wider strategy in India, supported by a recently announced $17.5 billion plan to build cloud and AI infrastructure across the country.
On workforce readiness, Wipro said, “The deployment of over 50,000 Microsoft Copilot licences represents a strategic investment to complement Wipro’s AI journey. Additionally, more than 25,000 Wipro employees are being upskilled in Microsoft Cloud and GitHub technologies through focused training and certifications, creating an agile and AI fluent workforce.”
