Some moments don’t just show progress, they make you pause and realize what’s been quietly built all along.
That’s exactly what OPULIS represents. Created by Women in Cloud, OPULIS celebrates 50 women whose contributions have shaped Microsoft’s journey over the last five decades.
But to me, OPULIS isn’t just a tribute. It’s a wake-up call — a long-overdue acknowledgment of the women who’ve been at the core of innovation, infrastructure, and enterprise, democratizing technology for decades. With two decades in tech, entrepreneurship, and media, I see this book as both a keepsake and a blueprint to unlock access to economic opportunities.
One that reclaims history and paves the way for a future where women’s contributions are not just honoured but expected, amplified, and funded. At The Mainstream, we didn’t just applaud from the sidelines, we jumped in. This year, we joined hands with Women in Cloud to bring the vision of OPULIS to life through #ICONSEmerge — a platform designed for more than visibility. It’s built for GTM velocity.
The book features 50 tech legends globally, including five of Indian origin – Chaitra Vedullapalli, Monika Mital Gupta, Aparna Gupta, Sharmila Rathinam, and Nitasha Chopra, whom I had the privilege to connect with deeply.
Together, we are driving real conversations, crossing borders, and creating economic access for women in digital industries. From India to Seattle and beyond, this movement is redefining what access and inclusion look like.
We also brought EmergeTech to Seattle — our flagship innovation summit, pushing boundaries and challenging the status quo. It wasn’t about comfort. It was about bold ideas, hard truths, and powerful insights meant to ignite action. And with our Multicity Roadshow back in full force, what started as local conversations has now gone global. Stories from India to the world have become a dialogue with the world.
Whether we’re talking about cybersecurity, fintech, or frontier AI, we’re not watching the change. We’re leading it. With 1,000+ voices in our community and growing, this is no longer just media. It’s a movement fueled by purpose, connection, and a shared vision.
OPULIS is a milestone, but it’s also a mirror. It reflects what’s been overlooked and dares us to do better. Because recognition, on its own, isn’t enough. It only matters if it opens doors, funds dreams, and builds new pathways.
I’ve walked through doors. I’ve built some from scratch. And I know it’s time we stop asking for seats at tables we didn’t design. Let’s build our own, with room for every voice that’s ready to lead.
Here’s to the visionaries.
Here’s to the changemakers.
And here’s to the future we’re building — together!
