WhatsApp tests quiz updates to boost engagement on Channels

A new interactive feature is beginning to appear on WhatsApp Channels as the platform looks to make one way updates more engaging for followers. The messaging app is testing a quiz based update format that allows users to respond directly within a channel.

According to a feature tracker, WhatsApp is rolling out a new option called Channel Quiz. This feature lets channel admins post quiz style questions with multiple answer choices. Followers can tap on an option to submit their response and instantly see whether their answer is correct.

The quiz feature was earlier limited to a small group of users. It is now being tested more widely through the latest beta versions of WhatsApp for Android and iOS. This indicates that a broader public release could be approaching.

Admins who have access to the feature can find a new Quiz option inside the attachment menu. The layout is similar to polls, allowing admins to add a question and multiple answer options. Each option can also include an image to help users better understand the question. When a correct answer is selected, WhatsApp displays a short confetti animation as feedback.

Once users complete a quiz, channel admins can view a summary showing how many people selected each option. Admins can also see which members participated in the quiz. However, if a participant is not saved in the admin contact list, personal details such as phone number and profile photo remain hidden.

The new quiz tool is designed to make Channels more dynamic and interactive. It may also help admins increase follower participation and overall reach by encouraging users to actively engage with updates rather than only viewing them.

Channel Quiz is currently available on the latest WhatsApp beta builds for Android and iOS. The feature is expected to roll out gradually to all users in the coming weeks. Until then, followers may need to wait before seeing quiz based posts appear on their favourite Channels.
