WhatsApp begins rolling out multi account support for iPhone users

WhatsApp has started rolling out multi account support for iPhone users. This update allows users to run two WhatsApp numbers in the same app. Android users have had this feature since 2023. A report by a common noun states that this update helps people who manage both work and personal numbers. It allows them to switch accounts easily without logging out or using the WhatsApp Business app. Each account keeps its own chat history, notifications, media settings, privacy controls and backup data so that one account does not interfere with the other.

How multi account support works on iOS

The report explains that users can now run two different WhatsApp accounts inside one app without needing a second device or a separate business app. A previous report noted that some beta testers found a new option inside the Settings page to add an additional account. This appears as an Account List section or a shortcut next to the QR code icon. Users can add a new number, log in to an existing account or link a companion account by scanning a QR code.

Each account keeps its own chat history, notifications, media settings, privacy preferences and backup options. Notifications will clearly show which account received a message. This can help prevent confusion when managing two profiles.

Switching between accounts is simple. Users can switch through the Account List, by long pressing the Settings tab or by using a quick double tap gesture. WhatsApp App Lock features such as Face ID, Touch ID or passcode will continue to work when switching to a protected account. Users can also remove an account through the Account section. Previously used numbers are saved so that logging back in is easier. The feature will roll out gradually to beta and stable users in the coming weeks.

New guidance for suspended users

WhatsApp is also working on a feature to help suspended users understand why their account was suspended. The report states that the feature will give clear and relevant explanations to users who have had their account suspended. It will show what specific behaviour caused the issue. These reminders will appear during the review process. This can help users avoid repeating the same mistakes. The report adds that the feature also acts as a preventive tool by guiding users to follow the platform rules and reduce the chances of getting banned again.
