WhatsApp is now rolling out a new feature for iOS users that offers a dedicated support chat with AI powered responses. This official WhatsApp Support chat is designed to help users resolve issues faster and more easily, without needing to leave the app. The new feature allows users to send messages directly to support and get instant replies generated by artificial intelligence.
The update is available on the latest version of WhatsApp for iOS and is being gradually released through the App Store. Initially spotted in beta, this feature is now live for many users and is expected to roll out more widely in the coming weeks.
Once enabled, users will see a new chat option with WhatsApp Support, identified by a Meta Verified blue check mark. The chat also shows that it is the official support account. To start using this feature, users can go to WhatsApp settings, then select Help, followed by Help Center, and finally tap on Contact us. This opens a chat window with WhatsApp Support.
When users begin a conversation, they are notified that responses will be AI generated and may occasionally be inaccurate or inappropriate. Despite that, the system delivers quick replies and assigns a ticket number to track the issue. Every AI generated response includes a small indicator next to the message timestamp to show that it was created using Meta AI.
Users can type questions or share screenshots to get help. While the AI system handles most queries, if needed, support staff may step in. However, there is no direct option to request a human agent, and the chat confirms that it is monitored by staff who will join the conversation only if required.
This update is part of WhatsApp’s broader push to enhance user support and streamline issue resolution using AI. The company has also revealed plans to launch another AI chatbot that will provide product recommendations for businesses.
