WhatsApp introduces AI replies, dual accounts and storage tools to enhance messaging

In a move to make everyday conversations smoother, WhatsApp has rolled out a range of new features aimed at improving chat management, storage control, and AI-assisted interactions.

One of the key updates focuses on storage management. Chats often take up significant space over time, especially with media files. Users can now delete large files directly from a chat without removing the entire conversation. To access this, tap the chat name and select the Manage Storage option, where media can be cleared quickly.

WhatsApp has also enhanced its chat transfer capabilities. Users can now move chat history not only between iOS and Android but also within the same platforms—iPhone to iPhone and Android to Android. To use this, go to Chats > Transfer Chat History > Transfer to Android and follow the steps. The process may take longer for users with large data and is currently not available for Business accounts.

Another major addition is support for managing 2 accounts on a single iPhone. This feature, already available on Android, allows users to switch between accounts easily, making it useful for those balancing personal and professional communication. The active account can be identified by its profile picture in the bottom tab.

WhatsApp is also making chats more interactive with customised stickers. As users type, the app will suggest emojis that can be quickly converted into stickers, adding a fun element to conversations.

On the AI front, Meta AI now enables photo editing within chats. Users can modify images directly before sending them. However, this feature may not yet be available to all users.

Additionally, the AI Writing Help feature assists users in drafting replies based on the conversation. It helps save time and improves message clarity, especially when users are unsure how to respond or want to refine grammar.

Meta has confirmed that these features are being rolled out gradually and may take some time to reach all users.
