Webflow Welcomes Dave Steer as Chief Marketing Officer

Webflow today announced the appointment of Dave Steer as Chief Marketing Officer. With two decades of experience at GitLab, Cloudflare, and other category-defining companies, Steer joins Webflow to help scale its enterprise growth and shape the future of AI-powered digital experiences.

Steer brings a proven track record of unifying story, strategy, and go-to-market execution across both product-led and sales-led motions. At GitLab, he served as Vice President of Brand and Product Marketing, where he led platform positioning, launched GitLab Duo AI, and built out customer advocacy, executive engagement, community, and solution marketing functions. His approach combines deep technical fluency with a sharp instinct for brand storytelling, making complex platforms feel clear, credible, and compelling.

Before GitLab, Steer held senior marketing roles at Cloudflare, helping the company reposition for enterprise buyers and scale product marketing ahead of its IPO. Earlier in his career, he led global marketing and policy programs at Facebook, Twitter, PayPal, and eBay, and played a foundational role in the development of internet privacy standards through his work with TRUSTe and the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

“Dave is the kind of marketing leader who knows how to take a great product and turn it into a powerful movement,” said Linda TongWebflow CEO. “As AI reshapes how teams build on the web, Dave will help us show the world how Webflow delivers creativity, performance, and scale in one platform.”

Steer joins as Webflow deepens investment in its AI product strategy and evolution as the Website Experience Platform (WXP). The company recently launched AI Site Builder in beta, designed to help teams generate, structure, and publish sites with greater speed and precision. Webflow Cloud brings full-stack web apps and websites together in one platform. With Webflow’s Model Context Protocol (MCP), developers can tap into Webflow APIs directly from tools like Cursor and Claude to streamline testing and accelerate build workflows. These advancements reflect Webflow’s ambition to make creativity scalable and digital experience infrastructure truly AI-powered.

“Webflow is a category-defining brand. In a world where marketers, designers, and developers are looking to amplify human creativity with AI, Webflow is positioned to be the platform that enables marketing teams and agencies to do extraordinary things,” said Dave Steer, Chief Marketing Officer at Webflow. “Webflow’s product suite is clear, the vision is bold, and the team is serious about scale. That’s the kind of story I’m excited to help shape and scale.”
