WaveX, through its Startup Accelerator Platform, has officially launched the ‘Kalaa Setu – Real-Time Language Tech for Bharat’ challenge. This innovative initiative aims to invite Indian Artificial Intelligence (AI) startups to develop groundbreaking solutions for real-time multilingual and multimedia content generation, significantly enhancing public outreach in governance.
The core objective of the ‘Kalaa Setu’ challenge is to bridge language barriers and ensure that vital government information is delivered to citizens in their preferred languages, thereby promoting inclusive and effective governance. The startup challenge focuses on three pivotal areas:
- Text-to-Video Generation: Converting textual information into dynamic video explainers.
- Text-to-Graphics Generation: Transforming text into locally relevant infographic visuals.
- Text-to-Audio Generation: Utilizing advanced voice synthesis technology to create audio news capsules.
These AI-driven solutions will enable public communication bodies, such as All India Radio, Doordarshan, and the Press Information Bureau (PIB), to convert official information into accessible formats in real time. This startup initiative aligns with the Government of India’s broader vision to leverage AI technologies for equitable and timely access to information for all citizens.
Indian AI startups keen to participate can submit their applications through the WAVEX portal. A working Minimum Viable Concept (MVC) must be submitted by the deadline of July 30, 2025. Shortlisted teams will have the opportunity to present their solutions to a national jury. The winning team will receive comprehensive support for full-scale development and pilot opportunities with key government communication entities.
