Vivo X300 delivers flagship cameras and performance in a compact design

At a time when large smartphones dominate the market, Vivo is attempting to revive the compact flagship segment with the launch of the Vivo X300. The smartphone focuses on three key aspects: a compact design, flagship-level cameras, and powerful performance. Instead of offering a smaller version of its Pro models, Vivo has designed the X300 as a premium device with balanced performance and design. The smartphone is priced at Rs 75,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB variant, Rs 81,999 for the 12GB RAM + 512GB model, and Rs 85,999 for the 16GB RAM + 512GB option.

The Vivo X300 stands out with its compact build and premium finish. The device measures 150.83 x 71.76 x 7.99mm and weighs about 199g, making it comfortable to hold compared to many flagship smartphones. It features a large camera module on the back with Zeiss-branded triple cameras and a soft velvety texture that enhances the overall feel. The phone is available in Elite Black, Mist Blue, and Summit Red colour options, with the Summit Red variant offering a subtle yet elegant look. The front houses a 6.31-inch display that balances immersive viewing with easy one-hand use. The device also carries an IP68 + IP69 rating for water and dust resistance. It features a 6.31-inch 1.5K 8T LTPO AMOLED panel with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, HDR10+ support, 2160Hz PWM dimming, 460ppi density, and up to 4,500 nits peak brightness. The display delivers vivid colours and sharp visuals, though the smaller screen may feel limited compared to larger 6.8-inch displays. The phone includes a dual-speaker setup with a bottom speaker and an earpiece acting as the secondary speaker, but the audio is not very loud and may sound slightly hollow at higher volumes.

On the software side, the Vivo X300 runs OriginOS based on Android 16 and promises 5 years of OS updates along with 7 years of security patches. The interface appears cleaner and more refined than FunTouchOS, with smoother animations and extensive customisation options. Powering the smartphone is the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. The phone performs smoothly during daily tasks such as browsing, multitasking, and using social media apps. It can also handle demanding games like Call of Duty: Mobile and BGMI at up to 90fps for long sessions. However, the device tends to heat up during heavy benchmark testing and intense gaming, especially around the camera module area.

Cameras remain the highlight of the Vivo X300. The device features a Zeiss-backed triple rear camera system consisting of a 200-megapixel primary ISOCELL HPB sensor with f/1.88 aperture, a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-602 telephoto sensor, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide ISOCELL JN1 sensor. A 50-megapixel ISOCELL JN1 sensor is also used for selfies. The new VS1 imaging chip helps deliver better results than previous models. Photos captured in daylight show natural colours, balanced dynamic range, and strong detail without heavy processing. Low-light shots are well exposed with minimal noise, though extremely dark scenes slightly reduce quality. The 3x optical zoom telephoto lens produces detailed images and realistic bokeh for portraits, while the ultra-wide camera captures sharp photos with minimal distortion. The smartphone packs a 6,040mAh BlueVolt battery with 4th-generation Silicone Anode technology, offering more than a full day of usage in regular conditions. It supports 90W FlashCharge and 40W wireless charging, allowing the battery to charge from 0 to 100% in about 50 minutes. Overall, the Vivo X300 delivers a premium compact design, strong cameras, smooth software, and flagship-level performance, making it one of the most notable compact smartphones available in 2025.
