SBI Life Insurance Co. Ltd. has announced the appointment of Vishal Bhatia as its new Chief Information Technology and Digital Officer. The move reflects the company’s focus on accelerating digital transformation and building stronger technology driven initiatives.
Bhatia brings more than 24 years of experience in the banking and financial services sector. He has expertise in cloud platforms, artificial intelligence innovation, fintech collaboration, and customer focused product development.
Before joining SBI Life, Bhatia worked as Chief Digital Officer at Canara Bank where he led major digital transformation programmes. Under his leadership, the bank earned top rankings from the Ministry of Electronics and IT for three years in a row. Bhatia has also held roles as Chief Technology Officer at Kotak Cherry, where he helped strengthen digital offerings, and at IDFC First Bank, where he built IT infrastructure. His career also includes managing core banking operations at Societe Generale and Infosys, with leadership experience spanning India, Europe, and Turkey.
At SBI Life, Bhatia will focus on driving next generation technology adoption in insurance. He will lead innovation across distribution, servicing, and claims management. His knowledge in API integration, cloud strategy, and AI powered analytics is expected to strengthen SBI Life’s digital ecosystem for over 10 crore customers.
Industry experts believe his strategic approach fits well with SBI Life’s vision of providing secure, personalised, and customer centred insurance solutions while ensuring operational excellence and compliance in a fast changing market.
