A new chapter in digital governance is set in motion as Visa Government Solutions welcomes Athman Ali as the Head of Partnerships for the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (CEMEA) region. With over 27 years of global leadership experience, Ali’s arrival signals a powerful move to strengthen the bridge between public service innovation and fintech.
Stationed in Dubai, Ali will guide strategic alliances spanning 92 countries, focusing on building transformative partnerships that empower governments to enhance public service delivery through digital payments, digital identity frameworks, and advanced wallet solutions.
Ali’s career is deeply rooted in impact-led innovation. Prior to joining Visa, he held senior-level positions at several influential institutions, including his recent role as Senior Advisor and Global Lead for Digital and Tech Transformation at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change. His extensive résumé also includes leadership roles at the Mastercard Foundation, World Bank, and Chemonics International, where he shaped and led digital transformation initiatives across Africa and Asia.
At Visa, Ali will report directly to Svyatoslav Senyuta, taking the helm of Visa’s public-sector initiatives to scale digital infrastructure and support inclusive economic growth throughout the CEMEA region.
Expressing his excitement, Ali shared on his social platform, “I’m super excited to have joined the incredible team at Visa Government Solutions. I look forward to driving positive change across the 92 countries in CEMEA and to reconnecting with many of you as I accelerate forward on what promises to be a super-fulfilling journey.”
Ali’s appointment highlights Visa’s ongoing commitment to fostering government collaboration and enabling nations to craft citizen-first, future-ready digital ecosystems.
