A new AI driven photo trend is quickly gaining attention across social media platforms, with users turning their regular selfies into smooth and playful 3D cartoon style portraits.
The trend is powered by Google Gemini Nano Banana Pro, a recently released image generation model that creates polished 3D caricature effects using a single photo and a specific text prompt. Unlike earlier AI image trends that focused on realism, this one highlights expressive features, bright colours, and a soft, animated look.
Nano Banana Pro was launched a few weeks ago as an advanced version of the Nano Banana 2.5 Flash model. According to Google, the new model offers more realistic outputs with better visual depth and complex effects. It is available through the Gemini app on iOS and Android, as well as on Google AI Studio for PC users.
Here is how users can create their own viral 3D caricature using Google Gemini.
First, users must open the Gemini platform either on a web browser or through the official mobile app. It is important to confirm that the version supports image uploads, as the AI uses the uploaded photo as a reference to generate the final caricature.
Next, users need to upload a clear photo with good lighting and a simple background. Facial features should be visible so the model can create an accurate cartoon version of the person.
The main style of the image depends on using a specific viral prompt. After uploading the photo, users must paste the following text into the chat box:
“A highly stylised 3D caricature of the person in the uploaded image, with expressive facial features, and playful exaggeration. Rendered in a smooth, polished style with clean materials and soft ambient lighting. Bold colour background to emphasise the character’s charm and presence.”
Users can also customise the image by adding details before the main prompt. These may include clothing, accessories, or background colours such as a red beanie, a graphic T shirt, or a vibrant teal backdrop. Once the final prompt is ready, the request can be submitted and the AI will generate the image.
