India’s Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, held a virtual discussion with Intel CEO Lip Bu Tan to review the company’s ongoing and future initiatives in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence sectors in India.
The interaction took place as India continues to intensify its focus on strengthening its semiconductor and AI ecosystem through national programmes such as the India Semiconductor Mission and the IndiaAI initiative.
Sharing the update on X, Kwatra stated, “Had the pleasure to interact with Lip Bu Tan, CEO of Intel to discuss Intel’s initiatives and plans for India operations in coordination with the Government’s goal to develop semiconductor and AI industry in India under the aegis of India Semiconductor Mission and India AI.”
The meeting highlighted India’s growing collaboration with global technology leaders as it works to enhance innovation, manufacturing, and research capabilities in advanced technologies. The discussion also aligns with the government’s broader vision of positioning India as a key player in global semiconductor production and AI innovation.
The engagement comes ahead of the upcoming India-AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled to be held on February 19 and 20 in New Delhi. The summit will be the first global-scale AI conference hosted in the Global South, bringing together global leaders, researchers, and policymakers to explore the impact of artificial intelligence on industries, governance, and society.
With India’s continued focus on fostering high-tech industries, the dialogue between Intel and the Indian government underscores a shared commitment to advancing digital infrastructure, innovation, and self-reliance in critical technology sectors.
