Vi Business Partners AWS and C-DoT to Launch IoT Innovation Lab in Mumbai

Vodafone Idea’s enterprise arm, Vi Business, has launched an Internet of Things (IoT) innovation lab in Mumbai in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT). The “Vi Business IoT Innovation Lab” will demonstrate connected vehicles, smart grids for energy optimisation, smart manufacturing for real-time monitoring, and next-generation IoT solutions powered by edge artificial intelligence.

The lab combines Vi Business’ strong connectivity, AWS’ global cloud and AI capabilities, and C-DoT’s standards expertise to accelerate time-to-market, reduce costs, and improve operational efficiencies. The initiative is aimed at helping start-ups, device makers, and enterprises design, test, and scale industry-grade IoT use cases across sectors such as BFSI, IT/ITeS, utilities, logistics, manufacturing, retail, governance, healthcare, and smart cities.

“With Vi Business IoT Innovation Lab, in collaboration with AWS and C-DOT, we are orchestrating the right ecosystem for start-ups and enterprises to design future-ready solutions,” said Arvind Nevatia, Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Vodafone India. “Together, we aim to transform India’s IoT landscape, empowering enterprises with new opportunities for innovation and contributing to India’s digital growth.”

“Through this collaboration, we are combining AWS’s cloud and AI capabilities with Vi’s connectivity to help businesses and start-ups bring next-generation IoT-led solutions to market,” said VG Sundar Ram, Head of Business Development, AWS India and South Asia.

“C-DOT has been working to strengthen India’s digital ecosystem by driving global oneM2M standards in IoT, which have been adopted as the national standard. In collaboration with Vi Business, we have set up test environments in the IoT Innovation Lab to help the industry seamlessly adopt these standards,” said Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO, C-DOT. He added that the lab will ensure interoperability across diverse systems while maintaining high levels of data security, privacy, and real-time authorised data exchange, making India’s IoT ecosystem trusted, scalable, and future-ready.

Vi Business highlighted that India’s IoT market is on a steep growth trajectory. The national IoT device market, valued at $2.89 billion in 2024, is expected to reach $10.28 billion by 2030, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 23.2%.
