Vanguard Set to Launch Tech Centre in Hyderabad by 2025, Aiming to Hire 2,300 Tech Professionals

Global investment powerhouse Vanguard, managing over $10 trillion in assets, has announced plans to establish its largest tech development centre outside the United States by the end of 2025. This new facility, Vanguard’s ninth worldwide, will focus on cutting-edge areas such as AI/ML, data analytics, mobile engineering, cloud services, and cybersecurity.

Already securing a temporary space of 50,000 square feet at Sattva Knowledge Park, Vanguard plans to expand into a more spacious 250,000 square feet facility as its workforce grows. The company’s decision to set up its Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad was finalized after a strategic discussion between Vanguard’s global CEO, Salim Ramji, and Telangana’s Chief Minister, A. Revanth Reddy, in December 2024.

“We are excited to be adding talent that will focus on AI, mobile, and cloud-based technologies that drive our business outcomes and deliver a world-class experience for clients. Hyderabad was an obvious choice for us because of its diverse talent pool, quality of living, an ecosystem of tech expertise and innovation mindset, and the friendly policies of the Telangana state govt,” said Ramji.

Hyderabad’s rise as a tech hub is also seen as a boost to Telangana’s vision, according to Chief Minister Reddy. “I am delighted to welcome Vanguard to join the irresistible and unstoppable Hyderabad Rising vision. As part of Telangana Rising, we are shaping Hyderabad into a GCC hub for the world across domains, and Vanguard’s endorsement will further strengthen our global positioning,” he added.

Vanguard’s new centre will serve as its first tech development hub in India, complementing its global network of facilities in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. The move reflects a significant shift in Vanguard’s tech strategy, with the company focusing on building in-house technology capabilities, especially around digital transformation, cloud adoption, and AI innovation to better serve its 50 million clients worldwide.

Nitin Tandon, Vanguard’s CIO, explained, “We are not doing this for cost. We are doing it for talent. We want direct access to the talent that Hyderabad offers and want them to work directly and closely with our teams in the US.”

Hiring for the new Hyderabad centre will begin in June 2025, initially focusing on senior leadership roles. Over the next few years, the centre will expand, with plans to reach a headcount of 2,300 professionals by 2025. With over 30% of GCCs choosing Hyderabad in the last five years, the city’s talent pool, including 250,000 GCC professionals and 100,000 STEM graduates annually, makes it a prime location for Vanguard’s new venture.
