In a major push towards becoming an artificial intelligence hub, Uttar Pradesh has signed a ₹25,000 crore agreement with Puch AI, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on X.
The MoU outlines plans to develop AI Parks, large-scale data centres, an AI Commons, and a dedicated AI University in the state. “This initiative will strengthen governance, drive innovation, and create future-ready opportunities for our youth,” Yogi wrote.
The development follows investment commitments secured at the World Economic Forum in Davos in January, including a ₹25,000 crore agreement with Essar Group. This marks one of the largest investment deals signed by the state at the global event. The funds will support sectors such as power and energy systems, logistics, warehouses, and data centres.
In addition, SA Technologies will establish a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Uttar Pradesh. The centre will offer IT services, digital solutions, and innovation support for large enterprises while creating high-value job opportunities for young professionals.
The state government is also planning to transform 5 cities—Lucknow, Kanpur, Noida (Gautam Buddha Nagar), Varanasi, and Prayagraj (Allahabad)—into AI and IT hubs. Lucknow is set to become India’s first ‘AI City’, with the broader aim of developing all 5 cities into major centres for IT and IT-enabled services.
UP Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ said, “AI leadership means leadership of the world, and our ‘double engine’ government is turbocharged to lead the tech revolution in the world.”
A 40-acre site near Lucknow airport along the Lucknow-Kanpur highway has been identified for the AI City project. The hub will offer a full ecosystem for businesses, including AI startups, data centres, data analytics, AI training, and data forensics.
The state is also collaborating with institutions such as IIT Kanpur, IIM Lucknow, and APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University to support these initiatives.
