As part of this effort, the Justice Department has reportedly sent formal requests for documents and information to several companies. Technology giant Google and telecom major Verizon are among those that have received demands related to their diversity initiatives, according to a recent report by a leading business publication.
The report said the investigation focuses on how diversity programs are designed and applied within these organisations, particularly in recruitment and career advancement decisions. The requests are understood to seek detailed records and internal information connected to these practices.
However, a global news agency noted that it was unable to independently confirm the details of the reported probes at the time of publication.
