Ujwal Kawale has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer at John Cockerill India Limited, marking a key step in the company’s growth journey. In his new role, he will lead operations, drive strategic initiatives, and strengthen the company’s presence in both domestic and international markets.
Kawale brings over 18 years of experience managing complex industrial projects, particularly in the steel sector. He combines technical expertise, global project management skills, and operational excellence. He holds an M.Tech in Manufacturing Management from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, a Post-Graduate Program in Management Studies from Welingkar Institute of Management, Mumbai, and a B.E. in Production Engineering from D. Y. Patil College of Engineering and Technology, Kolhapur, Shivaji University.
Before becoming COO, Kawale served as Global Project Director for the Metals Business at John Cockerill Industry, Belgium. In that role, he successfully led multi-location projects across Europe, the United States, and India, improving operational efficiency and EBITDA through strategic governance and lean execution.
He began his career with John Cockerill India Limited and TCPL Packaging Limited, gaining experience in project management, industrial strategy, and production planning. Known for combining European work culture with Indian execution pragmatism, Kawale is expected to oversee end-to-end industrial project execution, implement innovative strategies, and foster an agile, sustainable, and high-performing organization, driving John Cockerill India’s continued success.
