Truecaller has rolled out a new voicemail feature for Android users in India, offering a free, device native experience with instant AI powered transcription and built in spam and scam protection. The new service allows users to store voicemail messages directly on their phones, giving them full control and privacy over recordings. Setup is quick and simple and users can activate unlimited voicemail within seconds through the Truecaller app at no cost.
The voicemail feature brings several smart tools to improve everyday calling. These include automatic spam filtering, smart call categorisation, adjustable playback speed and fast AI powered transcription. Messages are converted into text within seconds, making it easy for users to read voicemails quietly or when listening is not possible. This removes the need to dial voicemail numbers or remember PINs, making the experience more seamless and user friendly.
Truecaller Voicemail also focuses strongly on local relevance. The feature supports transcription in 12 Indian languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, Nepali, Punjabi, Sanskrit and Urdu. By supporting multiple languages, Truecaller aims to offer deeper personalisation and ensure accessibility for a wide range of users across the country.
“Traditional voicemail was built for a very different era of communication,” said Rishit Jhunjhunwala, CEO, Truecaller. “With Truecaller Voicemail, we are fundamentally rethinking how voice messages fit into everyday life — making them free, device-native and seamlessly integrated into the calling experience. By enabling on-device storage, instant transcription, spam protection and support for a wide range of Indian languages, we’re removing the friction and limitations of legacy systems. This is a step toward building a more inclusive, intuitive and trustworthy communication layer — one that works the way people actually communicate today.” With this launch, Truecaller continues to strengthen its position as a daily use communication platform and its ongoing fight against spam and fraud.
