Truecaller to End Call Recording Feature for iPhone Users from September 30

Truecaller has announced that it will discontinue its call recording feature for iPhone users starting from September 30. The popular caller identification app had reintroduced this feature on both Android and iOS nearly two years ago but has now decided to withdraw support for iOS devices.

The company is shifting its focus to improving core services such as real-time spam detection through Live Caller ID and automatic blocking of unwanted calls. Confirming the update, Nakul Kabra, Product Director for iOS at Truecaller, said the decision is in line with their ongoing efforts to strengthen spam protection tools on the platform.

As per recent reports, the call recording feature will no longer be accessible to iPhone users after the given date. In addition, users will lose access to any previously saved recordings stored within the Truecaller app. To avoid losing this data, Truecaller recommends that users either download their recordings, share them through messaging apps, or transfer their storage preference to iCloud.

Here is how iPhone users can back up their recordings:

To transfer all recordings to iCloud:

– Open the Truecaller app and go to the Record tab.

– Tap the Settings icon.

– Select Storage Preference and choose iCloud storage.

If the iCloud option is greyed out, go to iPhone Settings, tap your Apple ID, select iCloud, go to Saved to iCloud, and enable the Truecaller toggle.

To save or share an individual recording:

– Open the Record tab in the app.

– Swipe left on the recording you want to save.

– Tap the Share button to save it to the Files app or send it via email or any messaging platform.

While iPhone users will lose access to this feature, call recording on Android remains available through Truecaller’s built-in dialer. The iOS method, which involved merging a recording line during calls or using a floating action button, will be removed after September 30. No changes have been announced for Android users at this time.
