Aman Mehta, grandson of Torrent Group’s visionary founder, is all set to become the Managing Director of Torrent Pharmaceuticals, marking a poetic continuation of a legacy that began in 1959. The transition will be effective from August 1, 2025, as the company moves towards a future sculpted by young leadership and deep-rooted family values.
Currently serving as Whole Time Director, Aman Mehta, 33, stepped into Torrent Pharma’s leadership circle in August 2022. His appointment is part of the group’s long-term strategy to cultivate a future-ready executive team. “We are pleased to share that as part of our long-term strategic vision and succession planning, the Board has approved the appointment of Aman Mehta as Managing Director,” the company expressed.
The heir to a business empire seeded by his grandfather Uttambhai Nathalal Mehta, who began his journey as a medical representative, Aman carries the torch with quiet strength. His father Samir Mehta now chairs Torrent Pharma, while uncle Sudhir Mehta, once at the helm, holds the title of Chairman Emeritus.
Educated in economics at Boston University and armed with an MBA from Columbia University, Aman joined the Torrent Group in 2013. Over the years, he has worn many hats across both pharma and power businesses. His noteworthy leadership in India and RoW markets has been marked by achievements such as the seamless integration of Unichem and Curatio Healthcare, creating substantial business value.
His vision breathed new life into Torrent’s cardiac and diabetes portfolio, spurred organic market growth, and birthed a consumer health division. His strategic clarity led to the alignment of R&D with business goals and elevated efficiency across manufacturing and supply chains.
As the third generation rises, other family members also contribute their light. Jinal Mehta leads Torrent Power and Gas, while his brother Varun oversees new ventures. Aman’s younger brother Shaan is crafting strategy at Torrent Pharma.
The Torrent journey, which began with pharmaceuticals and expanded into power, gas, diagnostics, hospitals, and green energy, now finds itself at a pivotal crossroads of heritage and modernity, with Aman Mehta poised to guide the next chapter.
