Toast expands India presence with new Global Capability Centre in Bengaluru

Strengthening its footprint in India, Toast has opened a new Global Capability Centre in Bengaluru to support its global product development and engineering needs. The cloud-based digital technology platform for the hospitality industry inaugurated the facility on Thursday, marking another milestone in its India expansion journey.

The new centre is located at RMZ Ecoworld on Outer Ring Road and spans 64,000 sq. ft. It is Toast’s latest expansion in the country since it entered India in 2022. The company said its combined workforce across Bengaluru and Chennai has grown 4 times over the last 3 years, reinforcing India’s role as a critical technology hub for its global operations.

“Our talent philosophy is to hire the best people we can. Bengaluru is the most matured tech ecosystem in India. Execution and talent go hand in hand. We have some incredible set of people with incredible skills, and that helps us to differentiate,” Steve Fredette, President and Co-founder of Toast, told a publication.

The facility was inaugurated by Fredette along with Kavita Viswanath, Senior Vice President and India Site Lead. The Bengaluru centre will host teams across engineering, product development, fintech, artificial intelligence and machine learning, customer care, finance, and people operations.

One of the key highlights of the new office is a customer experience centre. Designed like a restaurant, the space allows Toast to deploy its products end to end, enabling employees to see and test how the platform works in real-world restaurant settings. The facility also features collaborative workspaces, training rooms, wellness areas, and recreational zones.

The centre will support employee learning and development, including leadership training and professional development programmes. Toast’s social impact arm, Toast.org, will also operate from the Bengaluru office, along with employee resource groups focused on inclusion and community engagement.

“The first couple of years, we took time to build the domain experience and understand the business. From 2025-26, just the sheer number of roles in product and leadership have more than doubled, showing we are focused more around building those capabilities to serve our enterprise customers,” Viswanath said.

As of September last year, Toast reported that its annual revenue run-rate had grown 30%, crossing $2.0 billion.
