TN CM to Launch India’s First Integrated Public Transport App ‘Chennai One’

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin will launch Chennai One, India’s first integrated public transport mobile application, allowing commuters to travel seamlessly across buses, metro, and taxis using a single QR ticket.

The launch will take place during the second meeting of the Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority at the State Secretariat, where CM Stalin will also approve a 25-year Comprehensive Mobility Plan for the Chennai Metropolitan Area.

Chennai One is designed to enable commuters to use a single QR-based ticket across multiple transport systems in the city. The app will be available on both iOS and Android platforms.

The app currently integrates the following transport modes:

– Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) buses

– Metro rail

– Namma Yatri autorickshaws

– Taxis

Integration with suburban trains and MRTS is planned in the near future.

Chennai One allows payments through UPI or payment cards, eliminating long waits at ticket counters. It also provides real-time updates on bus and train schedules, helping commuters plan their journeys efficiently.

The app supports multiple languages including English, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada, making it accessible to a wide range of users.

CUMTA stated that the app will simplify public transport in Chennai by combining ticketing, journey planning, and real-time tracking into a single platform. Commuters will no longer need multiple apps or smart cards, and waiting times will be significantly reduced.

Officials highlighted that Chennai One will improve commuter convenience, encourage the use of public transport, and enhance overall travel efficiency across the city.
