The Tiruppur Cybercrime Police have successfully solved a case involving a complainant who lost ₹25.79 lakh after being deceived into investing via a fake trading app. The suspect, R. Dinooshan from Neruperichal in Tiruppur, has been arrested.
The victim invested in a scheme called Adit Pro, which was promoted through a WhatsApp group that claimed to offer stock market advice and IPO opportunities. After not receiving the expected returns, the victim reported the incident to the Cybercrime Police. A special team, led by Inspector K. T. Kalaiyarasi, traced the suspect’s bank account to S.K. Enterprises, which is operated by Dinooshan, leading to his arrest.
Dinooshan, who was recently released from the Perumanallur Sri Lankan refugee camp, had allowed fraudsters to use his bank account in exchange for a commission. His account is linked to 35 cybercrime cases across India, according to a statement from the Cybercrime Police. He has been placed in judicial custody.
In their advisory, the police urged the public to exercise caution when encountering enticing online job offers that lack legitimate personal information. Victims are encouraged to call the Helpline number: 1930 or file a complaint at www.cybercrime.gov.in, as stated in the advisory.
