TikTok announces over $37.7 billion investment to build its first data centre in Brazil

TikTok’s parent company has unveiled a major investment plan worth more than 200 billion reais, or about 37.7 billion dollars, to establish its first Latin American data centre in Brazil. The move reflects growing confidence in Brazil’s expanding digital economy and its potential to serve as a regional hub for advanced technology infrastructure.

The upcoming facility will be located near the industrial port of Pecém in the state of Ceará. It will be developed in partnership with a data centre developer and a renewable energy company. The entire project will be powered by dedicated wind energy parks, highlighting a strong focus on clean and sustainable operations.

A senior public policy representative from TikTok in Brazil described the investment as “historic”, noting that it underscores Brazil’s role as one of the most dynamic digital markets in the world. The company views the region as a strategic location for strengthening its data operations and supporting the growing use of its platform.

The data centre is scheduled to become operational by 2027. Once live, it is expected to support TikTok’s global expansion and contribute to Brazil’s ambition to emerge as an important centre for artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
