Oracle data centre outage disrupts TikTok access for some users in the US

A fresh technical disruption has affected parts of TikTok’s operations in the United States, marking the 2nd major outage linked to Oracle since the platform’s ownership restructuring. Some users reported difficulties accessing features, while creators experienced delays in posting content.

TikTok confirmed on X that the issue was tied to an Oracle data centre. “Creators may temporarily experience lags in posting content while Oracle works to resolve the issue,” the company stated. User reports on Downdetector indicate the disruption began before 9 a.m. ET on 03/03/2026. Oracle also posted on X around the same time, acknowledging the outage.

Oracle is part of the investor group that owns 80% of the TikTok USDS Joint Venture. The joint venture was created to comply with a national security law requiring ByteDance to divest its American TikTok business or face a ban in the United States. Oracle had already been providing cloud services and managing user data for TikTok prior to the formation of the USDS Joint Venture and it continues to oversee key infrastructure operations.

This marks the 2nd significant outage linked to Oracle since the sale was finalized in 01/2026. Just days after the transaction closed, TikTok faced a similar disruption that was attributed to a winter storm impacting a major Oracle data center. As of now, Oracle has not identified the specific cause of Tuesday’s incident. TikTok said it appreciates users’ patience and will provide updates as the issue is resolved.
