Tetra Pak launches advanced product development hub in Thailand to boost APAC innovation

Strengthening its support for food and beverage manufacturers in Asia Pacific, Tetra Pak has inaugurated a new Product Development Centre (PDC) in Rayong, Thailand. The facility is designed to help companies move efficiently from product concept to full-scale production.

“Across Asia Pacific, we are seeing strong demand for higher-value, more differentiated food and beverage products,” said Julia Luscher, Vice President, Marketing at Tetra Pak. “To compete regionally and globally, manufacturers need faster validation cycles, more efficient development, and the ability to scale with confidence.”

Spread across 3716 m², the centre integrates two key areas: Liquid Food Solutions and the Food Development Facility. It features semi-industrial, end-to-end pilot plants that support both aseptic and non-aseptic applications.

The PDC focuses on 6 high-growth liquid-based categories, including dairy, beverages such as juice, nectars, still drinks, coffee, and tea, plant-based foods, ice cream, food applications like Tetra Recart culinary and porridge dishes, and food supplements and nutrition.

With these capabilities, manufacturers can validate recipes and processes before commercial rollout, reduce risks, and improve product quality. The facility also enables companies to optimise investment by testing sensitive or high-value ingredients under conditions close to full-scale production.

By offering end-to-end support, from laboratory development to pilot trials and process optimisation, the centre aims to accelerate time-to-market. It also supports regional product innovation by allowing manufacturers to test ingredients and formulations closer to actual production environments, while leveraging Tetra Pak’s global network of specialised development centres.

The site includes dedicated laboratories and a team of food scientists, bioprocess engineers, and process specialists. It also offers sensory testing, nutritional analysis, shelf-life studies, and consumer research to strengthen product launch confidence.

Designed for manufacturers of all sizes, the facility provides access to advanced pilot production, technical expertise, and quality validation without requiring heavy capital investment.

Commercial trials at the centre are set to begin in Q2 2026.
