Temenos Names Jean-Pierre Brulard as New CEO After Extensive Search

Temenos, a leader in core banking software solutions, has officially appointed Jean-Pierre Brulard as its new Chief Executive Officer, concluding a thorough search for a successor. Brulard is set to begin his tenure on May 1, 2024, following the retirement of Andreas Andreades after 25 years of service.

Brulard brings a wealth of leadership experience, having spent 14 years at VMware, a cloud computing and virtualization giant based in the US. During his time at VMware, he held various roles, including Executive Vice President (EVP) of worldwide sales and was a member of the company’s executive committee. VMware was acquired by Broadcom last year. Before his tenure at VMware, Brulard was Senior Vice President (SVP) and General Manager for the EMEA region at Business Objects, a European software company acquired by SAP in 2007. His career also includes significant roles at Sun Microsystems and IBM, as well as serving on the board of TalentSoft, a French company.

Based in Switzerland, Brulard’s extensive experience in managing SaaS transformations and scaling business models will be crucial as Temenos continues to accelerate its own SaaS-driven growth strategy. Thibault de Tersant, Temenos’ non-executive chairman, praised Brulard’s “management of the migration of the VMware business model to subscription and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) whilst delivering annual recurring revenue (ARR) and revenue growth,” citing it as a key factor in his appointment. De Tersant also highlighted Brulard’s “extensive operational and strategic planning expertise,” which will be invaluable in driving Temenos’ vision to serve the evolving needs of global banks.

Temenos has been shifting towards a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model in recent years. As part of its strategy, the company moved to selling five-year subscription contracts for on-premise licenses and maintenance, a model that includes renewals. Brulard’s experience with large-scale SaaS transformations positions him well to lead the company into the future.

Andreas Andreades, who has been with Temenos for a quarter-century and served as CEO during the search for Brulard’s successor, will retire after his remarkable tenure.
