Shikha Goel, Director of the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB), emphasized the importance of ongoing education and technical adaptability in combating the growing wave of threats. In contrast to the rest of the country, which experienced a 37% increase in cases during the same period in 2024, Telangana reported a notable 13% decrease in cases during the first half of 2025.
She was addressing TGCSB’s cyber warriors and officers at a special capacity-building workshop. Among the Rs 726 crore lost to cybercrime this year, Rs 105 crore was successfully frozen, and Rs 102 crore was returned to victims, Goel said, highlighting the state’s efforts to mitigate cybercrime.
In order to stop counterfeit networks, 565 URLs, 7,178 device IMEIs, and 1,957 SIM cards have also been blacklisted. The interactive event’s objectives were to improve staff members’ abilities and familiarize them with the newest methods and instruments in digital forensics and cybercrime investigation.
Fifteen officers from TGCSB headquarters and Cybercrime police stations, together with twenty-five cyber warriors from around the state, were honored for their exceptional accomplishments in important cybercrime verticals during the session. These included executing PT warrants, issuing reimbursement orders, conducting community awareness campaigns, promptly disposing of petitions via the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP), and efficiently following up on status calls.
In order to further solidify its dedication to creating a safe digital environment, the TGCSB has also carried out focused cyber awareness campaigns throughout the state.
