Telangana rolls out AI-led tools to speed up cybercrime reporting and probes

In a strong push toward technology-driven public safety, Telangana has introduced 3 homegrown digital tools to make cybercrime reporting and investigation faster, simpler, and more effective.

The state unveiled 1930 Saarthi, Sentinel, and C-Sight at SHIELD 2026 in Hyderabad. The launch highlights Telangana’s focus on using advanced technology to strengthen cyber safety and law enforcement capabilities.

1930 Saarthi is an AI-powered voice-based system that allows citizens to report cybercrimes through the national helpline in their own language. This removes language barriers and makes reporting more accessible. Sentinel, a rule-based cybercrime investigation tool, is designed to standardise investigations across Telangana. C-Sight, an AI-enabled platform, helps speed up the verification and analysis of digital evidence, especially in cases linked to child exploitation.

Together, these tools aim to streamline investigations, reduce delays, and make it harder for cybercriminals to evade the law.

The impact of these efforts is already visible. In 2025, while many parts of India reported a rise in online crime, Telangana reduced cybercrime complaints by 6% and cut financial losses by nearly 25%. The Child Protection Unit processed over 120,000 tip-offs during the year, leading to hundreds of arrests. This marked a sharp improvement compared to the previous year.

Innovation was also at the centre of SHIELD 2026 through the CipherSprint Challenge. The initiative attracted more than 550 teams working on real-world problems such as deepfakes and crypto-related crimes. From these, 17 finalist teams presented their solutions at the event. The winning teams received grants of ₹500,000 to build practical solutions in collaboration with TGCSB and IIIT Hyderabad.

These combined efforts underline Telangana’s growing role as a leader in tech-enabled policing and cybercrime prevention.
