Telangana ramps up life sciences and AI investments with USD 25 billion target

A fresh wave of investment commitments at BioAsia 2026 has strengthened Telangana’s ambition to become a global life sciences and AI healthcare hub. The Telangana government secured new pledges across life sciences, animal vaccines, AI-led healthcare analytics, and infrastructure, reinforcing Hyderabad’s position as one of India’s fastest-growing pharma and healthtech centres. The state is targeting USD 25 billion in investments by 2035.

Four major projects were announced, expected to generate direct jobs over the next few years. France-based Opella Healthcare will set up a global technology centre in Hyderabad, employing around 500 people in a 42,000 sq ft facility to support consumer healthcare operations worldwide. Indonesia-based Vaksindo Animal Healthcare will invest ₹400 crore to establish an Animal Biosafety Level-3 vaccine manufacturing facility in Telangana. The plant will produce vaccines for poultry, cattle, swine, and aquaculture, creating 350 jobs.

US-based Tredence plans to invest ₹300 crore over 2–3 years to build an innovation hub focused on AI-driven healthcare and life sciences analytics. The company expects to create 400 jobs initially, scaling up to 2,000 roles. Indian life sciences infrastructure firm RX Propellant has committed ₹1,000 crore to develop a next-generation life sciences campus spread across 1 million sq ft, with nearly 5,000 jobs expected.

Speaking at the summit, Sridhar Babu Duddilla, Telangana Minister for IT, E&C, Industries & Commerce and Legislative Affairs, said the state is combining manufacturing scale with innovation and incubation to remain globally competitive. The government also reiterated plans to expand Genome Valley, with Phase IV underway and additional land allocated to companies. Alongside industrial growth, the state plans investments in housing, education, and healthcare infrastructure. “Affordability is the main criterion. Using technology should help anybody, irrespective of caste, creed or economic status,” Babu said. Telangana aims to move beyond bulk drugs and formulations into vaccines, biologics, and AI-led healthcare innovation while attracting global and domestic investors.
