Amid growing concerns over digital fraud and online threats, Telangana’s top police leadership has emphasised the need for stronger cyber safety awareness supported by technology-driven initiatives. The focus is on building collaborative efforts to prevent cybercrime and improve public preparedness.
Telangana Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy stressed the importance of expanding cyber awareness programmes while addressing a crime review meeting held at the Police Training Centre in Khammam on Sunday. He urged district police units to adopt the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate’s cybercrime prevention initiative, ‘Cyber Simba’, to strengthen preventive action against cyber offences.
Highlighting ongoing efforts, the DGP spoke about the Telangana State Cyber Security Bureau’s digital initiatives aimed at improving cybercrime prevention and supporting investigations. These initiatives are part of a broader collaborative strategy designed to address the increasing challenges posed by cybercriminal activities.
During the meeting, he also reviewed measures taken by the State police to curb the drug menace and reduce road accidents, underlining the importance of coordinated policing across districts.
Earlier in the day, the DGP inaugurated the Police Welfare Sports Complex and newly constructed police staff quarters at the police headquarters in Khammam, reinforcing efforts to improve welfare infrastructure for police personnel.
The event was attended by Multi Zone-I Inspector General S. Chandrasekhar Reddy, Khammam Police Commissioner Sunil Dutt, and other senior officials.
The emphasis on technology-backed awareness and coordinated enforcement reflects Telangana Police’s continued focus on strengthening cyber safety while improving overall law enforcement preparedness across the state.
