Telangana emerges as India’s rising talent hub

Telangana is rapidly becoming one of India’s most sought-after destinations for professionals, driven by the steady rise of global capability centres across the state. Over the past year, GCCs in Telangana hired 13,500 professionals from other states while only 7,100 left, resulting in a net talent gain of 6,400 professionals.

According to the research report Telangana: The Next-Gen GCC Powerhouse by specialist staffing firm Xpheno, the state ranks second in the country for Positive Talent Balance, just behind Karnataka. Telangana, Karnataka and Haryana are the only states in India that have a positive inflow of skilled professionals, highlighting their strong employment ecosystems.

The findings point to Hyderabad’s growing importance as a professional hub and underline Telangana’s success in creating an environment that combines opportunity, affordability and proactive state support.

“Telangana is firmly talent positive, meaning more professionals are choosing to move here than leave,” said Kamal Karanth, Co-founder of Xpheno.

Global corporations across technology, banking, healthcare and manufacturing have established their GCCs in Telangana. Leading employers include Microsoft, IBM, Google, Qualcomm, Salesforce, Wells Fargo, HSBC, S&P Global, Novartis, Optum and Boeing.

In several sectors, Telangana has become home to major anchor GCCs such as Wells Fargo in banking, Novartis in pharmaceuticals and Optum in healthcare IT. These large centres have fostered industry clusters that attract smaller and mid-sized companies to the region.

India currently hosts half of the world’s global capability centres, employing 1.9 million professionals and generating USD 65 billion in revenue. This figure is projected to cross USD 100 billion by 2030. Telangana’s contribution is growing steadily, with over 360 GCCs employing around 270,000 professionals in the state.

Xpheno estimates that 85 to 100 new GCCs will be established across India in 2025, and Hyderabad is expected to remain one of the most preferred destinations for new investments in the sector.
