New artificial intelligence capabilities are being introduced by Meta to improve the experience for sellers using Facebook Marketplace. The updates are designed to help sellers manage listings more easily and respond to buyer questions faster.
One of the key additions is an AI-powered auto-reply feature. With this update, Meta AI can automatically draft responses when buyers ask about an item. If someone sends a message about availability, the system can generate replies using details already included in the listing, such as price, pickup location, item description and availability.
Sellers will still remain in control of these responses. They can preview the suggested reply, edit it before sending, or disable the automated responses during the listing creation process.
The feature is meant to address a common issue faced by many Marketplace sellers. Buyers frequently ask repetitive questions, especially about whether an item is still available, even when the listing clearly provides that information.
Meta is also using AI to speed up the listing process. After a seller uploads a photo of an item, Meta AI can generate a draft listing automatically. The system can fill in product details and even suggest a price by comparing similar items listed nearby.
In addition to tools for creating listings, buyers will now see a summary of the seller’s Facebook profile at the top of the Marketplace page. This summary includes information such as how long the seller has been on Facebook, the number of friends they have and their Marketplace activity, including past listings and seller ratings.
The company is also expanding shipping options on Marketplace. Sellers can now choose to offer shipping, create prepaid shipping labels and track their orders through a dedicated dashboard.
Meta said these tools aim to help sellers reach a wider audience while making the selling process more efficient.
These updates build on earlier Meta AI integrations within Marketplace. Existing tools already help buyers ask relevant questions during purchases and provide AI-powered insights for vehicle listings.
