A new update from Anthropic is bringing visual intelligence to its AI assistant Claude AI. The company has introduced a feature that allows the chatbot to generate custom charts, diagrams and other visualisations directly during conversations.
The update is designed to make complex responses easier to understand. Instead of replying only with text, Claude can now include dynamic visuals in its answers when it determines that a visual explanation would be helpful based on the context of the chat. These images appear directly inside the conversation.
The feature is currently available in beta and enables Claude to create interactive charts and diagrams while chatting with users. One of its key capabilities is that visuals can update in real time as the conversation continues.
For example, a simple question might generate a short text response followed by an interactive idea map. The map can include multiple information nodes and dropdown sections that reveal more details when expanded.
Some visuals produced by Claude will also allow user interaction. Users may be able to click on different parts of charts or graphs to view underlying data or access additional explanations.
This approach transforms the response into a more exploratory interface instead of a static answer. It allows users to navigate through information visually rather than reading large sections of text.
The update is part of Anthropic’s broader effort to move toward format-specific responses. In this approach, Claude adjusts the structure of its output depending on the type of task or question asked.
By introducing charts, diagrams and visual maps that appear instantly in conversations, Anthropic aims to address a common limitation of many AI assistants.
Although these systems can handle complex questions, their responses often appear as long blocks of text. With the new visual feature, the company hopes to make answers more intuitive and easier for users to understand and explore.
