Techno Digital Launches 36 MW Data Centre in Chennai’s SIPCOT IT Park

Techno Digital, the digital infrastructure division of Techno Electric and Engineering Company Limited, has officially inaugurated a 36 MW data centre at SIPCOT IT Park in Siruseri, Chennai. This launch is a part of the company’s one billion US dollar investment plan for building sustainable digital infrastructure across India.

The facility covers more than 200,000 square feet and is equipped with hosting capacity for nearly 2,400 high-density racks. It is engineered to support power densities ranging from 10 kW to 50 kW per rack, making it suitable for artificial intelligence workloads. Strategically located in Chennai’s IT corridor, the centre offers strong connectivity to multiple cable landing stations and domestic networks.

Infrastructure highlights include an on-site 110 kV GIS substation with dual power feeds from separate substations via underground cabling, a UPS system tested with NVIDIA’s GB200 series, and an advanced cooling system. The cooling design features centrifugal water-cooled chillers and adiabatic cooling towers aimed at lowering power usage effectiveness while reducing water consumption by 75 per cent.

Executives from the company emphasised the role of Chennai as a leading hub for hyperscale data centres, pointing to the city’s robust infrastructure, supportive policies, and strong talent pool. They explained that the new data centre is tailored to meet enterprise demands for scalability, resilience, and sustainable digital operations.

Sustainability has been integrated into the project, with 25 per cent of the site allocated to green spaces, energy-efficient exteriors designed to limit heat absorption, and advanced water treatment and recycling facilities. The centre is aligned with a Rated 3+ reliability standard and is expected to achieve USGBC Gold certification for its environmental performance.

Padam Prakash Gupta, Managing Director of Techno Electric and Engineering Company Limited, said the development reflects the group’s dedication to long-term value creation through disciplined investments in high-quality digital infrastructure.
