With immediate effect, Indian financial giant Tech Mahindra has named Sham Arora, a former Standard Chartered executive, as its new chief technology officer (CTO).
After more than 20 years at Standard Chartered, where he most recently held the positions of global head of enterprise technology and chief information officer (CIO), Arora, who is based in Singapore, joins Tech Mahindra.
Since January 2021, he has been in charge of the bank’s entire IT divisions, including data centers, public cloud projects, API gateways, and IT operations and services.
As CIO for transaction banking, payments, clearing, and core bank technology, he began his career with Standard Chartered in 2003. Arora formerly held prominent positions at Citibank, Stock Holding Corporation, and Tata Energy Research Institute.
His hiring coincides with recent changes in Standard Chartered’s leadership. Zarin Daruwala, the bank’s CEO for India and South Asia, departed on April 1st, and PD Singh was appointed to take over as her replacement.
