Tech Innovations Take Centre Stage at International Police and Drone Expo 2025

The International Police Expo and Drone International Expo 2025 opened on Thursday at Bharat Mandapam, showcasing latest in policing and defence technology. Among the key highlights was the Rapid Illegal Immigrants Detection System, a standalone device designed to detect foreign SIM cards and mobile devices within a 50 metre range. Targeted for use in border areas and densely populated slums, it identifies IMEI and IMSI numbers in real time without relying on mobile network providers, proving useful during cordon and search operations.

The event attracted over 4,000 police and defence personnel, with a wide range of technologies on display including drones, artificial intelligence-powered defence systems, anti-drone guns, mobile forensic units and armoured ambulances.

One of the showcased tools was an India-specific open-source intelligence platform. Demonstrated by a forensic analyst, it mapped UPI accounts, social media profiles, emails and even photos by inputting a deceased person’s phone number. The tool, which pulls data from various platforms including the deep web and dark web, is designed to support background checks for law enforcement.

Deepgaze AI, another notable exhibit, focused on countering deepfake threats by accurately flagging manipulated images, audio and video using forensic techniques. Also presented were advanced data recovery and sanitisation tools for drones, along with mobile labs, forensic scanners and CCTV systems designed to aid crash investigations, disaster recovery and post-blast analysis.

Military equipment was also a major focus, with arms, vehicles and gear drawing attention. Attendees viewed pistols equipped with low-light firing capability and mine-protected armoured vehicles built to withstand landmine explosions.

“We are not here just to look, but to assess and offer suggestions to keep our units updated with the best technology,” said Vaishali Mane, superintendent of police from Pune, while testing a pistol’s weight and grip.

CRPF personnel Bhopinder Singh added, “Some of these technologies we have heard about, but this is the first time we are seeing them up close.” While the innovations were well received, CISF sub-inspector Ramashish Rana noted, “These tools show promise, but field readiness will take time.”

Delhi Traffic Police inspector Devi Lal called the technologies “a step toward modernising policing.” With quick response vehicles and mobile computing tools improving communication and logistics, the expo highlighted the growing role of speed in surveillance and law enforcement.
