Tech Giants invest Billions into AI Infrastructure as global demand soars

Major technology companies are rapidly investing in artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure as demand for advanced computing power continues to rise.

AMD has signed a multi-year agreement to supply AI chips to OpenAI, giving the ChatGPT creator the option to acquire up to about 10 percent of the chipmaker. This deal adds to a growing list of large-scale investments and partnerships reshaping the AI industry.

Nvidia, the leading AI chip producer, plans to invest up to 100 billion dollars in OpenAI and provide data centre chips, securing a financial stake in the company. OpenAI is already one of Nvidia’s key customers.

Meta has entered a 14 billion dollar agreement with CoreWeave for computing power, while CoreWeave also signed a 6.3 billion dollar initial order with Nvidia that ensures Nvidia will purchase any unused cloud capacity.

Oracle is reportedly finalising a 20 billion dollar multi-year cloud computing deal with Meta to boost the company’s access to faster computing power. The cloud giant has also sealed one of the largest ever cloud deals with OpenAI, under which OpenAI will buy about 300 billion dollars worth of computing power from Oracle over five years.

In another significant move, Nebius Group will provide Microsoft with GPU infrastructure valued at 17.4 billion dollars over five years.

Google has agreed to a six-year cloud computing deal with Meta Platforms worth more than 10 billion dollars. Intel, meanwhile, is set to receive a 2 billion dollar capital injection from SoftBank Group, making the Japanese investor one of Intel’s top ten shareholders.

Tesla has signed a 16.5 billion dollar deal with Samsung Electronics to source chips for its next-generation AI6 chip, which will be manufactured in Samsung’s Texas facility.

Meta has also acquired a 49 percent stake in Scale AI for 14.3 billion dollars and brought in its CEO, Alexandr Wang, to play a key role in Meta’s AI strategy. Google has paid 2.4 billion dollars in licence fees to use Windsurf’s AI code generation technology after hiring several of its key staff members.

The Stargate Data Centre Project, a joint venture between SoftBank, OpenAI and Oracle, plans to invest up to 500 billion dollars in AI infrastructure.

Amazon has doubled its investment in Anthropic, adding another 4 billion dollars to support the AI firm behind the Claude chatbot.
