TCS to Build 20-Acre IT Campus in Kolkata, 25000 Jobs to be Created

Tata Consultancy Services is set to build a new office campus in Kolkata, which will generate 25000 jobs in West Bengal. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that the authorities have approved the building plan for the TCS campus as part of the state’s ongoing efforts to drive IT-led growth and employment.

In a social media post, Banerjee said, “To those who relentlessly malign Bengal and willfully ignore the strides we are making, let this be a reminder of our capacity to deliver. Bengal is emerging as a hub of innovation, investment, and inclusive growth. Bengal means business, and the world is taking note.”

The new TCS campus will be developed at Bengal Silicon Valley over 20 acres. The New Town Kolkata Development Authority has sanctioned the Phase-I plan, which includes 9 lakh square feet of infrastructure. This phase will feature an 11-storey office tower and create jobs for 5000 people.

The second phase of TCS campus will add another 15 lakh square feet of space, resulting in 20000 more job opportunities. Once both phases are complete, the total built-up area will be 24 lakh square feet.

The announcement follows a recent Supreme Court verdict that scrapped 26000 jobs of teaching and non-teaching staff in state-aided schools, causing concern about unemployment. This TCS investment aims to help offset some of that impact by creating large-scale private sector employment.

According to industry updates, TCS is also expanding in cities like Bengaluru, Kochi, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, and Visakhapatnam. The Kolkata campus will play a major role in the company’s national growth plans.
